Now an ad supported Kindle 3G

Amazon makes it a point to make a statement that the Wi-Fi version of Kindle with Special Offers has done exceedingly well and that the user were actually asking for the 3G version as well, which the company has released now.

Amazon, the online retail giant, has now come up with a 3G capable Kindle e-book reader for a special price of $164 (about Rs 7,500). Just like the earlier WiFi model, the 3G ad supported Kindle is also $25 cheaper than the one which comes without ads.

"Kindle is the bestselling e-reader in the world. It's been just six weeks since we introduced the new $114 Kindle with special offers, and already customers have made it the bestselling member of the Kindle family," said Jay Marine, director, Amazon Kindle.

Stay tuned for Amazon tablet, says its CEO

The company has come a long way, since its first version of Kindle e-book reader. Amazon has reportedly placed an order for tablet PC from Quanta Computer, according to a Taiwanese website.

Amazon, which makes the Kindle e-book reader, has hinted that it may come out with a tablet computer soon.
"Stay tuned," said the company's president and chief executive officer, Jeff Bezos, when asked about the possibility of an Amazon tablet. He made the statement at the headquarters of Consumer Reports during an interview.
Amazon sold its first Kindle e-book reader within five hours of its release though it was the first of its kind device and was a completely new technology at that time for the users. Amazon later brought an advertisement supported Kindle. The company is also entering the cloud music business.

Barnes and Noble to reveal new e-reader on May 24

The company has an e-reader in the form of Nook Color, which has recently got a Froyo update and comes with 8 GB memory. So, it is expected that the new e-reader will have something better than this.

Barnes and Noble, a book retailer company, has announced that it's going to reveal a new e-reader later this month. The company has also made a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating the same, but the filing has an expected date as well, May 24.
The announcement has come about one week after the operating system of Nook Color, the e-book reader of Barnes and Noble, received an update which added Adobe Flash support, and app store — thus enabling it to look more like a cheaper version of the Android tablet.
