Sony to launch PlaySation Vita in India by year end

The new playsation portable handheld game console of Sony, named as PSVita, comes with integrated 3G telephony capabilities.

Sony has unveiled its new generation portable handheld game console, named as PlaySation Vita, at the Annual Electronics expo E3 2011 in Los Angeles. It will be available in India either by the end of this year or by early 2012 and this time Sony is not in mood for delaying the device as it has happened with many devices in the past.

The Vita gets quite a few upgrades over the older PSP but the biggest one remains the inclusion of 3G connectivity that will allow this device to access High speed telephony based data while on the Go. 

SmartAR: New augmented reality tech from Sony

Although augmented reality has yet to hit big time, there are numerous popular apps such as Wikitude and Augmented Car Finder which use augmented reality to provide real world benefits to users.

Smart AR is the new augmented reality technology from Sony which can be integrated into future mobile devices. Akhibara News reports that the SmartAR technology will be able to follow multiple objects at the same time. In simpler terms, augmented reality is the method of integrating virtual objects into the real world view as seen on the screens of mobile devices.

Xperia Arc, Play get Android update

Sony Ericsson rolls out first update for Xperia play and Xperia arc fixes bugs, adds Facebook Inside and updates the core system to Android version 2.3.3.

Sony Ericsson has officially announced the launch of its first update for the users of Xperia Play and Xperia Arc smartphones, which will now be upgraded to Android Gingerbread version 2.3.3.

Besides, they will also get the recently launched feature 'Facebook inside Xperia' that was introduced during the launch of the new range of Xperia Mini's. The feature allows users to share, like and connect on Facebook in a faster and easier way that is not possible through an application or through website. 

No Windows Phones soon: Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson is looking to triple its market share in USA with Android phones, particularly those that run PlayStation. The new Xperia series is likely to lead growth for the company.

Sony Ericsson, which had dumped the Symbian platform, is not likely to come out with a Windows phone anytime soon, according to the company's chief technology officer Jan Uddenfeldt.

However, Uddenfeldt's words can also be interpreted to mean that Sony Ericsson's doors are still open for Windows Phone 7, though the company will start making products only if the platform picks up pace.

Sony Ericsson is looking to triple its smartphone market share in the USA, which currently stands at 5 per cent.

After Symbian, it was widely speculated that the company would go for Windows Phone 7. However, it went for Google's Android operating system and has seen reasonable success with the decision.

Sony Ericsson Cybershot Android a possibility

Sony Ericsson might just have the plans to resurrect the Cybershot brand of camera phones in the form of an android smartphone.

After the relaunch of the Walkman series, Sony Ericsson may give a makeover to its famed Cyber Shot range, which suddenly vanished from the markets after the launch of Xperia range of smartphones. 

The Xperia Blog has come out with images which are believed to be the latest Cyber Shot phones of Sony Ericsson.

The design and the layout of the phone suggests that it will have a display of well over 3.7 inches. With the present and ongoing faith in Android, the Cyber Shot phone is expected to be based on the operating system as well. 

Presently Sony Ericsson has smartphones with 12 megapixel cameras but considering the Cyber Shot brand, the new version is expected to have a 16 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, either LED or Xenon. The slim profile of the phone is the proof that there will not be any optical zoom in this deice, which is contrary to the earlier rumours that Sony is working on a phone with optical zoom. 

Since this information is based on a leaked image, it cannot be authenticated at this point of time. But One thing is for sure and that is Sony Ericsson, after resurrecting the Walkman brand of feature phones as smartphones with Android, will definitely is looking forward to pump some fresh blood in the dying cyber shot brand too.

Sony Ericsson Xperia mini goes HD

Sony Ericsson unveils the new Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro with HD capabilaties, the latest additions to its Xperia family.

Refreshing the Xperia Mini range of smartphones, Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of its latest version of Xperia Mini and Xperia mini pro HD smartphones. Both the smartphones now feature a 1 Ghz Qualcomm snapdragon processor to meet the increasing computing requirements for smartphones and will be based on Google's newer Gingerbread operating system.

Both the Xperia Mini and the Xperia Mini pro handsets feature the Sony Bravia Engine for enhanced display on its 3 inch capacitive touch screen which is protected from scratches by a protective mineral glass. The Bravia engine also allows the Xperia mini to record High Definition 720P videos from its 5 megapixel camera making it the world's smallest HD video recording smartphone.

The key difference between the two new devices still remains the same that the Mini still remains to be a touchscreen only device while the mini Pro get a hardware slide out Qwerty keypad. While the rest of the hardware remain exactly the same in both the Xperia mni and the Mini Pro HD smartphones.

Can ZTE become a Top 5 Smartphone Manufacturer by year end?

That sounds pretty optimistic to me. Being in competition with the likes of HTC, Motorola, Samsung, Sony, LG, and Erricson, I say they have a long hard road ahead of them. Either way, why not shoot for the stars right? They take on this challenge, by showing their first quarter sales being up 51% over this time last year. And i like their new term “smart terminals”.
