CHSE results on SMS

CHSE has declared the results for class 12 (Plus Two) for Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational courses for which the examinations were conducted earlier this year during March - April.

This year millions of school students in Orissa, who appeared for Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) examination, can access their results on their mobile phones. Anxious students and their parents, who line up for hours outside schools and cyber cafes, don't need to step out anywhere this time as their results are just an SMS away.

SMS GupShup crosses 45 million mark

SMS GupShup, India's largest group messaging company and social network, crossed 45 million users online. SMS GupShup allows users to create communities on the mobile and broadcast them. No end soon to pesky calls and SMS

 Last year, a meeting between Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Opposition leaders to find a way to end the logjam in Parliament over the 2G spectrum scam was interrupted by a telemarketing call. His terse comment – “They don't even spare me” – at the meeting prompted the then Communications and Information Technology Minister, A. Raja, to order immediate action to check the menace of pesky calls and SMS.

Soon the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) came out with fresh guidelines, which included higher penalty, aimed at reining in telemarketing companies, and had set January 1, 2011, as the deadline to implement it. But the Department of Telecommunications is still to devise a mechanism to filter telemarketing calls and SMS. Since then, four deadlines have been missed, the latest one being March 21, 2011; and it looks like the solution to this problem is still at least a year away.

MTS offers Karnataka State Board Exam Results on SMS

CDMA operator MTS  has introduced a new  service for students who have appeared for Pre University Class (PUC) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination conducted by Karnataka State Board.  Over 15 lakh students have taken Karnataka State Board examinations in 2011 and now using MTS connection they can know the examination results by just sending the roll number prefixed with the examination type to 58888 and register themselves. Once the State education board announces the result, all registered students will receive their result via SMS at a minimal cost of Rs. 3 per SMS. Students who have not pre registered can also avail this service after the result is announced and can get the result details instantly. They just need to send an SMS in same format & result details will be pushed on their mobile. Similar service from BSNL has also been introduced in Tamil Nadu.

Indiatimes launches its SMS browser

ZTE to provide VAS to Telenor

ZTE a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions on Thursday announced contracts with Telenor Norway, Telenor Sweden and Telenor Denmark, to replace and expand the platforms for Voicemail, SMS, MMS, Location Based Services and WAP GW.

ZTE will upgrade the existing platforms to an integrated platform solution that enables the services to share hardware and capacity resources. ZTE’s innovative iVAS (Integrated Value Added Service) solution minimises CAPEX through dynamic capacity allocation and reduces OPEX through decreased power consumption and centralised operations.

BSNL offers results of State Board Exams on SMS

Students of Tamil Nadu state board HSC and SSLC examnicatnion can now know their results through SMS on BSNL mobile. BSNL, Tamilnadu Circle has introduced this service to offer the results of TN State Board HSC & SSLC Examination 2011 to its GSM Mobile customers using SMS service. The Service will be available as soon as the results are declared by the Directorate of Government Examination, Tamilnadu. BSNL will charge Re 1 for outgoing SMS and Rs 2 for incoming SMS providing result information. Students just need to send their registration number to 53344 prefixed with the examination type.
